I was born in Brooklyn, New York, and spent parts of my early life in Queens and Long Island before making South Florida my home for the past three decades. From a young age, I knew I wanted to build something of my own—a business rooted in creativity, independence, and hands-on work. At 17, while in college and unsure of my direction, I took a job at a local florist in Bayside, Queens. What started as a simple job quickly became the foundation of a lifelong career. After a short and unsuccessful stint answering phones, I was moved into the back of the shop where floral design happened. There, I learned the craft from the ground up—cleaning buckets, processing fresh flower shipments, and eventually assisting with daily arrangements. Over time, I gained deep knowledge of flower varieties, care techniques, pricing, seasonality, and design fundamentals. I went on to work as a full-time floral designer at two additional flower shops in New York before relocating to Florida in 1990. For the next couple of years, I refined my skills working with leading florists in the Boca Raton and Delray Beach area until I was ready to pursue my long-time dream of ownership. In 1992, with support from my parents, I opened Exceptional Flowers and Gifts. For over 34 years, my team and I have been creating high-quality, modern floral designs backed by exceptional customer service, value, and care.
