I was born in Brooklyn, New York, and spent parts of my early life in Queens and Long Island before making South Florida my home for the past three decades. From a young age, I knew I wanted to build something of my own—a business rooted in creativity, independence, and hands-on work. At 17, while in college and unsure of my direction, I took a job at a local florist in Bayside, Queens. What started as a simple job quickly became the foundation of a lifelong career. After a short and unsuccessful stint answering phones, I was moved into the back of the shop where floral design happened. There, I learned the craft from the ground up—cleaning buckets, processing fresh flower shipments, and eventually assisting with daily arrangements. Over time, I gained deep knowledge of flower varieties, care techniques, pricing, seasonality, and design fundamentals. I went on to work as a full-time floral designer at two additional flower shops in New York before relocating to Florida in 1990. For the next couple of years, I refined my skills working with leading florists in the Boca Raton and Delray Beach area until I was ready to pursue my long-time dream of ownership. In 1992, with support from my parents, I opened Exceptional Flowers and Gifts. For over 34 years, my team and I have been creating high-quality, modern floral designs backed by exceptional customer service, value, and care. We strive to understand the emotions behind every order and translate them into meaningful arrangements that speak when words aren’t enough.
